Canatella-Thompson was blessed to know at a young age how she would spend her professional career. “I’ve known since I was 16 that this is what I wanted to do,” she said. She has owned Canatella Interiors with her mother Debbie for over 13 years. “I got an interior design degree from Louisiana Tech and I wanted to work hard to own my own business,” she said. Canatella Interiors is a family business and when you visit you’re sure to meet someone who is part of the clan. “I’ve had 3 kids since we opened and they all came to work with me until they went off to pre-school. It’s such a joy! I love working with my mom and even my grandma worked here until recently. I’m very family oriented and there will always be a family member around,” she said. “We are very down to earth and love what we do. We put ourselves in other people’s shoes to make sure that they’re getting exactly what they want,” she explained.

Canatella Interiors is a full service interior design business. “We have furniture, gifts, accessories, jewelry and also offer specialized pieces like custom bedding, window treatments, and exterior furniture and much more,” says Canatella-Thompson. We offer in-home consultations to help you determine what your home needs. We have also been involved in the designing and decorating of different businesses such as apartment complexes, restaurants, doctor offices, law firms, casinos and many more. “We are blessed to have very loyal customers. We may do a small room in someone’s house and it could eventually turn into working on multiple rooms in their home,” she said. A reputation is imperative to keeping a business alive and Canatella Interiors has built one on hard work and excellent service. “We keep our prices reasonable. Our goal is for customers to have such a great experience in our store that they keep coming back and that they tell their family and friends about us.”

Canatella-Thompson’s family not only plays a big role in the day to day of the business but also helped guide her to become a successful businesswoman. “My dad is my mentor and my mom is my strength and stands beside me on a daily basis. As a young person, my dad taught me the skills to be an entrepreneur. “I was 22 when we opened the store and it made me grow up pretty quick. My dad always said if it was easy then everyone would do it.”

Interior design comes naturally to Brandy and Debbie and they also enjoy the perks of their job as well. “We all love being able to interact with all of our customers every day. Some people may be indecisive about how to decorate their home. If we can make a difference in their lives by making their home more comfortable for them, that is truly awesome,” she says. Canatella- Thompson feels truly blessed that she’s able to have a store with her mom and that they still love it 13 years later. “I’m addicted to my store and I take it seriously. I feel honored and blessed that Shreveport-Bossier has believed in us in order for our store to become successful. I know when I get older and look back at my life, I won’t have any regrets and wouldn’t change anything. Thank you to all for the continued support.”
