Superheroes and villains unite to support Sci-Port | by Mary Ann Van Osdell

The theme was Superheroes vs. Supervillains, and guests dressed in character at the Mad Scientist Ball held March 14 at Sci-Port: Louisiana’s Science Center. Guests drank endless cocktails and fueled up on buffets from Good Eats. Food included crawfish grits, marinated crab claws, crab cakes, gazpacho bar, vegetable spring rolls, oyster shooters, BLT bites and a carving station. There was a silent auction and dancing to the Gotham Good News Band. The Krewe of Aesclepius court, which included “Captain America,” greeted guests as they entered the building. A lot of the staff wore lab coats and conducted mad scientists experiments. Attendees could also look at their jewelry under a microscope or view the traveling “Treasure!” exhibit, which explores the history of treasures and treasure hunting, the technology employed in hunting treasure, as well as the people who hunt for treasure.
