Like I mentioned in last month’s article, Frisco isn’t Dallas. Frisco is so much more, and to celebrate their heritage, Frisco has added the Museum of the American Railroad behind the Frisco Discovery Center. The centerpiece of the museum is the 1.2-million-pound Union Pacific Steam locomotive — one of the largest in the world. Attached to the historic locomotive is an authentic dining car, where we were served a delicious lunch by The Spice of Life Catering. The Museum of the American Railroad is located next to the Frisco Heritage Museum. To add a little speed to our Frisco experience, we visited Pole Position. The indoor go-kart raceway featured all-electric go-karts, which travel up to 45 miles per hour. It had been years since I last drove a go-kart, and this really was a fun outing.

After working up an appetite trying to win the Pole Position 500, I stopped in at Cedars Wood Fire Grill. The menu here features something for everyone with grill salads, grill sandwiches, woodfire wraps and more. In the eatery there are no freezers, fryers or microwaves in the restaurant. Everything at Cedars is cooked to order on a large open grill in the heart of the restaurant using dry heat, which is one of the healthiest ways to cook.

For dinner, it was time for a steak. There’s no better place to get a steak than Randy’s Steakhouse on Main Street. Set in an 1860s Victorian home, this is truly a destination restaurant. Owner Randy Burks personally hand-cuts the restaurant steaks every day and serves them with his signature fair. The menu features seven unique steak offerings such as, steak stuffed with blue cheese or shrimp. Potatoes au gratin, sautéed mushrooms and steamed asparagus are just a few of the sides Randy offers. Happy hour takes place in the piano lounge, featuring half-price cocktails.

My last day in Frisco may have been my sweetest. I began with breakfast at Bonnie Ruth’s Cafe Trottoir et Patisserie. The cafe pays homage to the classic Parisian bistro with is French cuisine that blends the elegance of Paris with the sophistication of New York City. I enjoyed the Sunday buffet of eggs Benedict, waffle station, chicken crepes, crispy bacon and a dozen more mouth-watering selections. There is also a full menu available for lunch,

dinner and brunch. And don’t forget to try one of their decadent pastries. The cafe also features a full bar and happy hour and a special Ladies’ Night every Thursday night.

My next stop was Main Event Entertainment. This brought me back to my high school years with all of the arcade games and, my favorite, laser tag. Donning the much more modern than I remember electronic vest, I jumped and ran and rolled all over the two-story laser tag arena. It was great fun. The complex also features mini golf, bowling, billiard tables and something you’ll only find at the Frisco location — gravity ropes. These ropes are a suspended obstacle course of rope bridges that dangle high above the mini golfers.
