Josh Kraft, president of the New England Patriots Foundation and son of Patriots owner Robert Kraft, has decided to run for mayor of Boston, sources close to him confirmed.

A spokesperson for Josh Kraft declined to comment, but sources told NewsCenter 5 that an official announcement could be expected in early February.

Josh Kraft leads his family’s philanthropic efforts.

He also spent 30 years with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston.

The Williams College and Harvard Graduate School of Education graduate serves on the boards of Brandeis University, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Herren Project.

He is a co-chair of the Hate Crimes Task Force for Massachusetts and chair of the board of the Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts.
