Invitation to Bid

Commonwealth Land Trust, Inc., Boston, Massachusetts, the Awarding Authority, request bids for restoration of brick and brownstone masonry including cleaning, repointing and rebuilding; and an Alternate for the installation of new copper gutter and leaders at the William Smith Apartments at 42 Hammond Street in Boston, Massachusetts which is listed on the State and National Registers of Historic Places.

The project is being partially funded with a grant from the Massachusetts Preservation Projects Fund through the Massachusetts Historical Commission. All work must be performed in accordance with the documents prepared by Building Conservation Associates, Inc. (10 Langley Road, Newton, MA 02459, 617.916.5661) and meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. State law prohibits discrimination. A pre-bid meeting will be held at the William Smith Apartments at 42 Hammond Street, Boston, MA on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 10:00AM

Bids shall be evaluated on the basis of price, previous experience with similar types of construction projects, ability to perform the work in a timely manner, and references. All bids must be delivered to the restoration consultant’s office at the above address prior to Tuesday November 21, 2023 at 3:00PM to be eligible for consideration. All grant funded work must be completed by Friday, June 30, 2024.


Roxbury Community College Fume Hood Replacement RCC2450/J#236852

Work associated with demolition of existing hoods and installation of 4 new hoods and cabinets (prep-purchased by College), replacement of aged HVAC and Electrical components. The work will take place across 4 different classrooms on Floor 4 of the occupied Academic Building 3 and is to be completed simultaneously. Substantial completion by Jan. 22, 2023. GREENWOOD MEMORIAL UMC – EXTERIOR RESTORATION

Greenwood Memorial UMC, the Awarding Authority, requests bids for the exterior restoration of a historic church at 378A Washington Street, Dorchester, MA, which is listed in the State and National Registers of Historic Places. The project is being partially funded with a grant from the Massachusetts Preservation Project Fund (MPPF) through the Massachusetts Historical Commission and Boston Community Preservation Funding through the Boston Community Preservation Committee.

All work must be performed in accordance with the documents prepared by and available from the architect: Spencer Preservation Group, 41 Valley Road, Suite 211, Nahant, Massachusetts 01908 (617-227-2675) and meet the Secretary of the Interior’s “Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties”. State law prohibits discrimination. Awarding of this contract is subject to Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity guidelines.

Bids shall be evaluated on the basis of price, previous experience with similar types of construction projects, ability to perform the work in a timely manner, and references. All bids must be submitted to the architect no later than 5:00 PM, Thursday, November 16, 2023, to be eligible for consideration.
