It cannot be overemphasized how significant a role apprenticeship has played in Wayne J. Griffin Electric, Inc’s (Griffin Electric) overall success through the years.

A leading electrical and telecommunications subcontractor throughout New England and the Southeast, Griffin Electric is proudly celebrating its 45th year in the industry, while also marking the 30th year of its in-house Apprenticeship Training Program. Even after three decades of apprenticeship, the company continues to be extremely grateful for not only all those that have come through the program, but also the men and women who work tirelessly behind the scenes and have helped shape the program into what it is today. Griffin Electric has always strived to guide apprentices on “the pathway to potential” and is proud to have prepared many in pursuit of their licensure as they transition into electrician and telecom technician roles. This would not be possible without the program’s dedicated team of instructors who continue to give back by teaching, mentoring, and developing apprentices.

Griffin Electric firmly believes that the future success of the company and the construction industry as a whole begins with apprenticeship. The company is committed to growing the next generation of electrical craft workers and leaders of the industry. Beyond just celebrating and recognizing its own team of apprentices through annual events such as National Apprenticeship Week, Griffin supports and invests in initiatives that promote electrical and telecommunications apprenticeship throughout the year. The company takes an active role in working alongside organizations focused on highlighting construction as a viable career option. Through partnerships, sponsorships, and even direct outreach at school visits and career fairs, Griffin aims to educate those interested in building a rewarding career about the benefits of the trades.

College may not be the right fit for everyone, and apprenticeship is an excellent alternative pathway.

Established in 1993, Griffin Electric’s four-year program features 600 hours of classroom instruction and 8,000 hours of on-the-job learning under the supervision of a licensed journeyperson. Federally recognized, state approved and fully accredited by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER), the program is offered at the company’s headquarters in Holliston, MA, as well as at each of its office locations in Pelham, AL; Doraville, GA; Charlotte, NC; and Raleigh-Durham, NC. Griffin apprentices earn excellent compensation and benefits, and are eligible for wage increases every six months, based on grades and work performance. As an approved training site by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, through employment with Griffin Electric and satisfactory participation and progress in its program, veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces may also be entitled to receive a monthly stipend from the VA through the Post-9/11 GI Bill to help meet the cost of everyday expenses.

With a strong presence of work throughout all areas, the company has exciting employment opportunities in both the office and field throughout the company and is always open to adding dedicated men and women to join its team. Apprenticeship may be where the path of training and education begins for many at Griffin, but the company’s culture of continual education ensures that learning and development never stops. No matter what someone’s position or role with the company may be, Griffin Electric offers many tools and resources to help all its team members reach their full potential from both a personal and career standpoint. The company aims to empower each employee to forge their own career path and will do all it can to support them and help them achieve their individual goals.

Looking back on thirty years of apprenticeship, the company is proud of how much the program has grown. And with many substantial ongoing and upcoming projects throughout its regions, Griffin is excited for apprentices and everyone involved in the program to build on the foundation of the past three decades to move forward and help deliver the type of quality results its clients have come to expect.

If you are someone who is looking for a career and not just a job, Griffin Electric may be the right place for you.
