Massachusetts 54th reenactor, Joseph C. Zellner portrays Private Solomon Pierce. The 54th Regiment Memorial was unveiled Monday after a $3M restoration. The restored Robert Gould Shaw & 54th Regiment pays homage to the heroism of Civil War African American soldiers. The unveiling on Beacon Hill was accompanied by an exhibit on Boston Common giving the history of the 54th’s exploits.
