In Europe, carp were reserved for royalty. When Eastern Europeans arrived here, they were surprised there were no carp in America. Carp were thought to be brought here from Europe as early as 1831.

YOUNG PHEASANT HUNT: VOLUNTEERS MAKE THE YEARLY MILAN EVENT SUCCESSFUL
The Youth Pheasant Hunt Weekend here in eastern New York was this past Saturday and Sunday. Youngsters ages 12-15 who completed Hunter Education and possessed a valid hunting license were allowed to participate in the special hunt that is held ahead of the opening of the regular pheasant, which starts Saturday.

CORNED GOOSE OR VENISON
Corning meat, which refers to the large salt “kernels” that were traditional used to preserve the meat, is a tasty way to cook up some meat that may still be in the freezer from last season or to try with a harvest from this fall.
