SMOKIN' GUNS

Chex Out My Smokngun, Lot #12, was the second-high seller in the fifth annual The Horse Sale at Rancho Rio. The 2011 buckskin gelding sired by Helluva Chex out of CR Guns Fancy was nominated by first-time Rancho Rio consignor, Mozaun McKibben, Whitesboro, Texas.

In 2017 "Catfish" was top ten in the world for High Point Open Ranch Riding and Performance Geldings. He was purchased by Laurie Mill, Mills Livestock Company out of Casper Wyoming for $60,000.

With 60 total consignments and 44 horses sold the overall sale average was $26,477. The top 10 horses sold averaged $47,300 and the top 20 averaged $39,050. Consignments will open to the public for the sixth annual The Horse Sale at Rancho Rio on October 1, 2019. Nomination forms can be found online at RanchoRioAZ.com.




A CLOSE CALL

Kenneth Lyon & Stephen Harper were second-high call back in the National 8 Finale. Their final time of 38.46 on four put the pressure on the high team of Zane Compton and Whip Peterson. The young duo was able to seal the deal but Lyon and Harper picked up a sweet $15,600 paycheck and trophy buckles finishing in second.
