THE RISE OF THE TEAM ROPING CAPITAL OF THE WORLD
Many of the resourceful and committed settlers came from Sonora, Mexico, giving this area the distinction of being the northern edge of the Hispanic ranching frontier. Together with Henry Wickenburg and the miners, they helped found the young community of Wickenburg in 1863.

NO EXCUSES
The L4R Tour kicked off at the famed Circle T Arena in Hamilton, Texas, with stops #2 and #3 at Rancho Rio Arena, in Wickenburg, Ariz. Held over two Saturdays in January, the third tour stop saw 1,600 teams compete for a new Ford F350 Dually truck, 20 trophy Cactus Saddles, Gist Buckles and $150,000 in cash.

winners and her 2016 filly just sold for $65,000 at the NCHA Select Yearling Sale in Fort Worth. Checks is an elite rodeo heel horse and the most talented horse I have ever ridden. He's been hauled and won on at many of the larger ProRodeos as a 5-year-old.

THE HASSAYAMPA
There are some facts and many theories on where the word Hassayampa was derived. Once an oasis, with water flowing year-round, the western Yavapai made the banks their home, irrigating their crops of corn, beans, squash, and tobacco with river water. The Yavapai referred to the portion of the river nearest Wickenburg as Haviamp.
