The Desert Caballeros Western Museum was founded by Wickenburg residents in 1960 in order to collect and preserve the history of Wickenburg and the Arizona Territory. Today, the Museum is now a nationally recognized center for Western art, history, and culture.

The Museum's renowned collection of Western fine art meets historical depictions of early 1900s Wickenburg. Core to the collection are works by George Catlin, Albert Bierstadt, Thomas Moran, Frederic Remington, Charles Russell and Taos Society of Artists. Works by Billy Schenck, Maynard Dixon, Alan Houser, Deborah Fellows and more offer an enriching contemporary presentation. The Museum's lower level contains large scale re-creations of scenes from turn-of-the-century Wickenburg, including a street scene, a Victorian home, and a ranch, all constructed from historical photographs, maps, and oral histories. A complimentary guidePORT™ audio guide enriches the Museum tour with additional commentary and stories about the exhibitions. The Museum's Cultural Crossroads Learning Center features a variety of changing and traveling exhibitions and hosts numerous programs and workshops throughout the year. Frequently rotating temporary exhibitions and a diverse schedule of lectures, workshops, and events rounds out the Museum's vibrant palette of offerings.

DCWM is open daily, except for holidays and Mondays, Memorial Day through Labor Day. Admission is always free for Museum Members, active military and guests 17 and younger. Discounts are available for seniors and AAA members. For more information, visit www.westernmuseum.org or call 928-684-2272.
