Literacy fair

“Real Heroes Read” is the motto for the Junior League of Springfield Heroes Read Literacy Fair. Adults and children are welcome to participate in a full day of activities to promote reading. Children are encouraged to dress up as their favorite superhero and attend a three-hour reading session. Stations for early elementary students include literacy bingo and Superheroes ABC. Author Betty Carlson Kay will guide children through history with a presentation titled “The Lincolns A to Z,” and local author Mary Byers will share her knowledge on how to become a published author. Presentations on how to use your local library and how to transform kids’ question into parental influences are also included in the literacy fair. All proceeds from the event benefit JLS literacy programs and the Friends of Lincoln Library.
