The Mudbugs Chatham Homecoming Thursday, June 25, 7:30pm Lime Street Café Friday & Saturday, June 26 & 27, 8:30pm-12:30am www.myspace.com/themudbugs

The Mudbugs, often preceded by the adjective of mighty, as in the Mighty Mudbugs, certainly live up their self-professed proclamation. The group, originally formed by guitarist/singer Kit Jones to express his love of “swamp, jam’n, beach junk, blues, country rock, Bayou sounds, southern rock and especially improv music” has changed members through the years, but always remained true to the initial concept of “have fun, get good tone, get their toes tappin’ & don’t take it too serious.” Along with Jones, current members include, Steve Dykema on bass and harmony vocals, Fred Edmonds on drums, congos, and “shaky stuff” and Jim Chase as slide guru, master guitarist, singer/songwriter and other things. The ’Bugs are booked fairly solid at festivals and clubs throughout the summer (visit their MySpace page for an updated schedule) keeping their rootsy, “earth jam,” good music, going good all over central Illinois.
