Join John Martin, UIS associate professor of astronomy and physics, for a virtual summer star party. Martin will give tips for finding planets, bright stars and constellations in the early summer evening sky. You will be able to find the Big Dipper, a group of stars in the constellation Ursa Major and the summer triangle, which is comprised of the stars Deneb, Vega and Altair and is visible in the northern skies during the summer. Martin will also answer astronomy questions submitted to him live during the event. Over the summer, UIS will partner with the Sangamon Astronomical Society and Lincoln Memorial Garden to hold evening events in Crawley Meadow at the memorial garden.
