These days, everyone can and should be a superhero. All it takes is wearing a mask when in public. That’s the message behind a new Kidzeum initiative. The children’s science and health museum in downtown Springfield is still closed to the public. But it’s distributing activity kits, complete with a story about a little boy who learns the importance of wearing a mask to protect others. In addition to the Superhero kits, Kidzeum is creating science activities to share with children through programs such as Compass and The Outlet. The freshly launched “Superheroes for Health” campaign and its associated kit with the story, face masks, gloves, headbands and other materials will also be available via the museum’s website: kidzeum.org. “Let’s face it. Wearing a mask on your face isn’t very comfortable or fun. But we think kids are more likely to wear them if they feel more like a costume, and they can engage in pretend play while wearing them,” wrote Leah Wilson, head of Kidzeum, in an email.
