The Springfield Choral Society has been a part of the Springfield arts mosaic for almost 50 years, presenting highquality performances that are historically and stylistically accurate. Its programs include masses and motets by the great masters, carols and celebratory pieces, and a range of outstanding contemporary choral selections. This week the Society will present the program Tribute to a Warrior, featuring Franz Joseph Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass (Missa in Angustiis) and the Te Deum for the Empress Marie Therese, under the direction of Marion van der Loo. Van der Loo has served as the Society’s music director and conductor for the past 13 years, and this will be the last concert of her 47-year career as a musician. She has been a prominent member of the Springfield music scene for the past 27 years. springfieldchoralsociety.org.
