The Animal Protective League (APL) will hold its annual Upscale Collectible Sale this Friday and Saturday at White Oaks Mall in the upper level of the space previously occupied by Bergner’s. The sale will include furniture, antiques, jewelry, tools, home décor, books, movies, children’s items and holiday décor. All proceeds from the sale will benefit the dogs and cats in the care of the APL. For over 50 years, the APL, a nonprofit organization, has been an advocate for animals in both Springfield and Sangamon County. The APL operates a shelter for sick, injured, abused and abandoned dogs and cats as well as a lowcost spay/neuter clinic. The organization also has an active group of foster families who provide interim homes until space is available in the shelter. Through its adoption process, the APL strives to match animals with carefully screened, loving permanent owners. All animals leave the APL shelter spayed or neutered, microchipped and with all vaccinations. The organization also coordinates cruelty investigations and humane education programs. $5 donation for admission. apl-shelter.org.
