Springfield’s best-known and longest-running Celtic-fusion band still has the green going on with plans to keep it growing for years to come. Once upon a time, before becoming TEU, group origins were in an area band called Stone Ring Circle. After decades of performances, combined with several personnel changes, the history of the band projects a wee bit of a Scottish clan or an extended Irish family feeling. The current lineup of Lori McKenzie (vocals), Bill McKenzie (bass, vocals), Nat Radwine (drums, percussion), Chas Blythe (guitar, vocals), Joe Kath (fiddle, vocals) and Steve Myers (guitar, vocals) encompasses the continuing evolution of the band. Songs added to the repertoire include a number of Celtic-influenced, pop-rock numbers from groups like Big Country, The Cure, The Proclaimers and Dexy’s Midnight Runners, plus heavy-duty, Irish-punk from Enter the Haggis, Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphys. Longtime fans may rest assured that renditions of TEU favorites are still in the rotation, continuing the band’s legacy for all to enjoy.
