Enjoy award-winning works submitted by central Illinois junior high and high school students and accepted by the 2019 Scholastic Awards of the Mid-Central Illinois Art Region. Winners from this annual competition go on to compete at the national level. The exhibit will run through Feb. 21. Following the exhibit, an Honors Day Program will be held at the Springfield Art Association on Friday, Feb. 22. The program awards the achievements of the winners with a day to work with area studio artists in a workshop setting. This event brings students and teachers together to celebrate their success in the visual arts. Teachers also attend this event to gain information to use in their classrooms. The Mid-Central Illinois Art Region began in 1984 and continues to serve the Springfield and central Illinois area by supporting emerging artists. The targeted audience is students in grades 7-12 from public, parochial, home schools and after-school programs. The region consists of schools from 32 counties.
