When it comes to getting the most bang for your buck, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a more extensive small-town festival than Assumption Fest. This epic three-day festival with free parking and free admission meets all the standards for old-fashioned family fun, with pork chop dinners, car cruises and car shows, kiddie and adult tractor pulls, bags tournaments, a carnival, live music, and so much more. The 2018 celebration will feature popular attractions from previous Fests, such as Miller’s Petting Zoo (open 2-7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday), the Farm Extravaganza (opening at 3 p.m. on Friday), beer tents (open 5 p.m. through 1 a.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. through 1 a.m. on Saturday), a community breakfast (7-9 a.m. on Saturday), and the annual Grand Parade (held 11 a.m. Saturday). New to this year’s festival is the Majestik Spectacular, a stunt-thrill and acrobatics show that features dazzling obstacles such as the globe of steel, wheel of destiny, an aerial attraction, daring ground stunts and more. Majestik Spectacular show times are scheduled for Thursday at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m., Friday at 6, 7:30 and 9 p.m., and Saturday at 1:30, 3:30, 6 and 8 p.m. For more information, find Assumption Fest on Facebook or contact Angela Ohl-Marsters, president of Assumption Fest, at 820-1690.
