It’s offi cial. As of this afternoon (Thursday), the Buzz Bomb Brewing Co. will, offi cially, be open for business. While Springfi eld’s newest craft brewery has been pouring suds for a month, the ribbon cutting, with chamber of commerce types and folks from Downtown Springfi eld, Inc., expected, is set for this afternoon at 4 p.m. No word on whether there will be free beer, but snacks will be served. It’s not like these guys who started out as home brewers need to give away beer, anyway. Since opening, the taproom at the corner of Fourth and Adams streets has reportedly served 600 gallons, or 5,000 pints, of the fi nest beer this side of Obed and Isaac’s, and that’s with limited hours – they don’t open until late afternoons and have been open just two days a week – and names like Hoppy Bukkake Mosaic for a selection of brews we fi nd divine. We’re guessing demand has been so great they need to ration the stuff. To mark the ribbon cutting, two new beers, Sour Puss (a German sour wheat beer) and The Swayze (an American pale ale), will be debuted. From beer served in beakers to the upstairs library space to the steampunk aesthetic, there’s no place like this in Springfi eld. Every town should be so lucky.
