Learn all about the Illinois Executive Mansion, home to Illinois governors and their families since 1855, during a presentation by Justin Blandford, the superintendent of the state-owned historic sites in Illinois’s capital city. The mansion is scheduled to re-open in July 2018, following a meticulous, privately-funded restoration led by First Lady Diana Rauner, who, in 2015, described the decrepit and crumbling building as a metaphor for the state of Illinois. Blandford’s presentation will highlight future plans for the mansion and remind the audience of the history and significance behind the historic home.
