Horace Mann, the Springfieldbased insurance company for educators, donated $22,500 to the Springfield Public Schools Foundation (SPSF), representing half of $45,000 raised during the company’s annual Charity Golf Classic on Aug. 14. Horace Mann President and CEO Marita Zuraitis presented the donation at Sandburg Elementary School on Wednesday, November 29. The funds are to be used toward classroom education grants. The other half ($22,500) of this year’s golf outing’s proceeds will be presented to another local beneficiary. “Businesses such as Horace Mann truly understand the importance of supporting our students and schools,” said Springfield Public Schools Superintendent Jennifer Gill. “Horace Mann’s investment in our students today will help prepare tomorrow’s workforce.”
