From local awards (including decades worth of “Best of Springfield” honors in Illinois Times) to opening for Willie Nelson at the Illinois State Fair, Tom Irwin has been around for a while but still manages to stay busy. His upcoming shows include a run to Nashville next week for the Americana Festival, two performance on Sept. 16 at SamJam in Carlinville and Jacksonville’s Bookstock, Schlafly Bottleworks in St. Louis on Sept. 23, then he heads south for a week in Texas. This Friday, Tom plays his regular Friday gig at George Rank’s along with Peter Romano (drums), Bruce Williams (bass) and special guest Owen Irwin (electric guitar) to celebrate the national release of his latest effort, All That Love. The album, made in Chicago at Wall to Wall Recording in 2015 with Wilco’s John Stirratt as producer, is now out on CD, LP and all major digital outlets as of Sept. 8. Expect the band to play some numbers off the record plus songs from Irwin’s back catalogue with a few familiar covers tossed in the mix. See also
