 Hit the Mother Road this weekend and make the short jaunt to Elkhart for a party of epic proportions. Elkhart’s Route 66 Labor Day Fall Celebration offers two-days of jam-packed fun for the entire family. Friday’s festivities kick off with art sales at The Country Bumpkin, Birdsong Books & Vintage and Horsefeathers plus live music by the Lincoln Strings Trio. Dinner will be available for purchase at The Wild Hare Café from 5-8 p.m. Saturday’s fun begins at 8 a.m., with a biscuit-andgravy breakfast at the Fellowship Community Center. Other Saturday events include an all-day display of antique tractors, engines, motorcycles, bicycles and vintage classic cars; historic hill tours led by Bob McCue; a talent show; live mural painting; street food and blue plate specials for purchase; a street dance; BBQ and homemade pie contests; and more. Kids will enjoy performances by storyteller and musician Mike Anderson, creating sidewalk chalk drawings and make-and-take craft activities, plus a farm animal exhibition and petting zoo.
