Enjoy dinner and a show on Friday, July 28, when the Elkhart Historical Society hosts a dinner lecture by Rev. Dr. Malcom Shotwell titled “Our neighbors, the Lincolns: A clergyman remembers.” During the presentation, which is set in 1874, Shotwell will portray Rev. Dr. Noyes W. Miner, the pastor of the First Baptist Church in Springfield from 1855-1869. The portrayal will take the form of a dramatic monologue where Shotwell as Miner will share thoughts on the Lincoln-Douglas debate, visiting the Lincoln family in Washington, D.C., and more. The portrayal will take place at the Gillett Chapel on Elkhart Hill and will be followed by a meal at Wild Hare Café in Elkhart. No bathroom facilities are available at the Gillett Chapel; attendees are asked to plan accordingly. The cost of the presentation and plated dinner is $40 and advance reservations are required.
