A Springfield-area native and now Clearwater, Florida, resident, this talented and engaging guitarist, singer and songwriter in the Americana vein released his first full-length album on July 5. After years of performing and writing songs, Josh finally got into the studio and recorded a great sounding record of outstanding songs entitled, Mercy on the Strange. He also hosts one of the most respected and revered songwriter nights in the Tampa Bay area at the Crooked Thumb Brewery in Safety Harbor in conjunction with a group of songwriters called the Melody Artisans of Crooked Thumb. After his performance at the Amaranth Apple Festival two weeks ago, Reilly hit the road and played shows in Chicago, Madison and Kansas City, plus a few other places. This Friday at the Downhome Festival he’s joined onstage with a crack band of cool musicians (and good friends as well), including Eric “Flycatcher” Carlson (electric guitar), Jordan Laier (pedal steel), Keith Voegele (bass, vocals) and Patrick Miller (drums). The CD is available at Bandcamp and from Joshua.
