
The fun begins bright and early this Fourth of July in Jacksonville. Nichols Park will once again be the site of the annual Fourth of July Blast, a family-friendly celebration featuring fitness activities, live entertainment, kids’ attractions, fireworks and much more. The kids’ fishing tournament will kick off the festivities at 7 a.m., followed by the annual 5K and Fun Run at 8 a.m. Relax and collect free candy during the Jacksonville Rotary Club’s annual Fourth of July parade at 10 a.m., whose route leads from Duncan Park to the downtown square. The kids’ zone will open at noon, featuring activities for all ages including inflatables, old-fashioned games, fire safety houses, Superheroes Saving Smiles, the Princess Project and more. Other highlights include animal attractions such as Nolan’s Petting Zoo and Exotic Animals, Kretzer’s Pony Pals and pet competitions such as the Patriotic Pet Contest, Chihuahua Only Pet Contest and Wild Wild Wiener Dog Races. The Pavilion’s main stage will feature live entertainment from 11:30 a.m. onward, including a veteran’s ceremony, baby contest and headlining concert by Fun DMC.
