Since many farmers have found creative ways to extend growing seasons into the colder months, it is easier than ever to enjoy fresh, locally grown food during the holidays. On Saturday, Nov. 19, join the Illinois Stewardship Alliance, Slow Food Springfield, Illinois Wine and the University of Illinois Extension for a holiday farmers market at the Illinois State Fairgrounds Exposition Building. The 10 th annual market will feature at least 35 central Illinois vendors selling a variety of made-in-Illinois products such as fresh produce, pasture-raised turkeys, pork, beef, chicken, eggs, coffee, craft beer, wine and much more. The market will also host activities for kids, courtesy of the University of Illinois Extension. Lunch items for purchase will be available compliments of Copper Pot Cooking Studio. An additional holiday farmers market will be offered on Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Illinois State Fairgrounds Illinois Building. For more information about the Holiday Farmers Market, call the Illinois Stewardship Alliance at 528-1563.
