BAND SPOTLIGHT | Pat Travers Band
Known for decades as one of the premier rock guitarists of a generation, Pat Travers has done it all and just keeps doing it. Best known to the masses as the hit maker of “Boom Boom (Out Go The Lights)” and “Snortin’ Whiskey,” Travers made it big time in the early-to-mid 80s. He toured many times as support for fellow Canadian rockers the band Rush, with Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson citing Pat as one of his favorite pickers. Always playing, from top-of-the-pops concerts for 35,000 fans to the nights in the nightclubs with a few hundred listeners, Travers is a musician’s musician, continually honing his craft of playing and writing, never considering not making music. Pat has played with an incredible bunch of musicians through the years and he claims these guys now are the best, including Kirk McKim (lead guitar), Rodney O’Quinn (bass) and Sandy Gennaro (drums). With a website motto of “We’re here to kick your ass,” he just might be right.
