Sometimes, experiments just don’t work out. The Old Capitol Farmers Market in downtown Springfi eld is moving its Wednesday hours back to the morning after a brief stint in the evening. The move follows a vote by the vendors, who cited hot weather hurting their sales. The group also voted to ask the City of Springfi eld for more space. Currently, the market runs along Adams Street between Third and Fifth streets, sometimes spilling over the Third Street railroad tracks and into the parking lot west of offi ce furniture fi rm Resource One. Market patrons crossing Fourth Street between the two halves of the market have to thread between cars, creating danger and inconvenience for everyone involved. The vendors’ solution is asking the city to block off Fourth Street between Monroe and Washington streets, giving the market more room and eliminating the car-pedestrian issue.
