This weekend see two roller derby bouts for the price of one as Springfield’s all-female flat track roller derby league, Midstate Mayhem, takes on Metro East’s Confluence Crush Roller Derby in their final home bout of the season. Immediately following the game Springfield’s Capital City Hooligans men’s roller derby team will take on the Detroit Men’s Roller Derby. On July 24, the Hooligans defeated Marion’s Brigade of Handsome Gentlemen and Chicago’s Bruise Brothers to win the Illinois Cup, which grants them bragging rights as the best men’s roller derby team in the state of Illinois. In addition to the two roller derby bouts, Sunday’s event will feature halftime games and activity tables for children along with merchandise, concessions and vendors. A $2 discount at the door is available for current military members and students with photo ID.
