On June 4 at 10 a.m., Prevent Child Abuse Illinois will host its seventh annual Illinois Walk for Children featuring Spiderman and Ironman at the YMCA Gus and Flora Kerasotes location. According to a press release, there will be a one-mile walk followed by superhero-themed games and activities for children ages 12 and younger. Prevent Child Abuse Illinois looks to create superheroes in the community by heightening adults’ awareness of child abuse issues, by educating caregivers in effective parenting and by fostering communities that want to protect children and support families. This is the organization’s only major fundraiser for the year, with proceeds benefi ting child abuse prevention and education programs in Illinois. This year’s registration fee is set at $15.
