THEATER | Bringing Vachel Lindsay to life

See Chicago troubadour Steve Duchrow perform Peddler of Dreams, an original play adapted from the writings of American poet Vachel Lindsay on Saturday, April 2, at the Vachel Lindsay Home State Historic Site. The performance brings to life Lindsay’s impoverished 1912 solo walk from Illinois to New Mexico, singing the praises of his one-page document “The Gospel of Beauty” along the way. Peddler of Dreams is not an imitation of Lindsay’s work but rather a performance piece that incorporates Lindsay’s passion, humor and insight. Says Duchrow, “If you read any Lindsay work out loud, his voice and his music are in the text. He’s there.” For more information about Vachel Lindsay and Peddler of Dreams, visit http://vachellindsay.org.
