BAND SPOTLIGHT | The Emerald Underground

As witnessed above, this is definitely the busiest band in Celtic show business during the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in Springfield. 2016 marks the 15th year in the existence of The Emerald Underground concept and experience. 2016 also marks the second year the lineup of Megan Turner (fiddle, vocals), Bill McKenzie (bass, vocals), Lori McKenzie (vocals, percussion), Jack White (vocals keyboards, guitar), Chas Blythe (electric guitar, vocals) and Nad Radwine (drums, percussion) takes the stage at the several gigs the long-running band lines up every year during the season. The idea of combining Irish songs with rock influences first started around here with Stone Ring Circle, our area’s first Celtic fusion group, the predecessor of The Emerald Underground. Through the years several members have come and gone, adding a particularly colorful history to the evolution of the group, including self-produced CDs, TEU swag, countless gigs and a pint or two of the good stuff. The band promises new tunes and old favorites performed in the unique stylings of Celtic fusion as only TEU can bring to the stage.
