DANCE | Step into tradition
Start Black History Month off on the right foot and enjoy a spirited dance performance by Step Afrika!, the first professional dance company dedicated to the tradition of stepping. Stepping became popular in the United States in the early 1900s thanks to song-anddance rituals practiced by African-American fraternities and sororities. Stepping is performed widely today in schools, churches, community organizations, Latino and Asian-American Greek-letter organizations and more. Step Afrika! is an internationally recognized stepping group that incorporates additional styles of dance such as tap, modern and hip hop as they introduce stepping to new audiences. Tickets range from $15-30 for adults and are $5 for school-age children. For more information about Step Afrika!, visit http://stepafrika.org.
