BAND SPOTLIGHT | The Love Hogs

Playing only their second show in 15 years, the legendary Love Hogs return to a Springfield stage after coming out of a pen from the past to play the Downhome Music, Art & Beer Festival last year. Far from being a bore (or a boar?) the power trio of Keith Voegele (bass, vocals), Greg Patterson (drums) and Ted Brannon (guitar) each come with a fine pedigree of other bands and music making. Keith plays bass and tours with the nationally famous Bottle Rockets (check out their recently released CD, South Broadway Athletic Club, on Bloodshot Records), Greg (they call him Lucky) fronts local country band the Wolf Creek Boys as lead singer, songwriter and left-handed, rhythm guitarist, and Ted is rumored to wear a mask while playing lead guitar and composing searing surf-punk classics for area band Go! Tsunami. When these three play together, it’s not pearls before swine or making a silk purse out of a sow’s ear or pigging out or hogging the ball; it’s all about the Love Hogs.
