BAND SPOTLIGHT | Rockin’ Johnny Burgin

Hot off a Southern California run and in between a southern Missouri romp, the very busy and very talented blues guitarist, singer and bandleader from Chicagoland makes his way to the Illinois Central Blues Club Blue Monday show at The Alamo. RJB is on the move in more ways than geographical tours. His latest CD offering, Greetings from Greaseland (March 2015 on West Tone Records), has been hailed by more than one reviewer as the best of Johnny’s several blues releases. Blues Blast Magazine just last week called it “killer Chicago blues” and “Chicago blues masterpieces” while recognizing the connection to Greaseland, a famed Bay Area studio by noting Johnny “recorded these tracks with the cream of the crop of the thriving San Francisco Bay Area blues scene.” But as with most blues acts, the live performance always trumps the record and a night with the RJB band is no exception. Expect the best in old-school blues played from the heart with soul, dignity and compassionate expression.
