BAND SPOTLIGHT | Steely James

Based out of Nashville, Tenn., this wandering troubadour keeps mostly on the road. He has a lot to say, mostly about social issues that need to be addressed from the progressive side.

Steely James (also known as Jim Stealy) sings songs by some of the great thinkers of our lyrical music, such as Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie and Neil Young, along with a slew of self-penned tunes from his CD, Free Speech Experiment. The list of song titles gives a pretty good idea of the lyrical content. With names like “The Corporation,” “No More War,” “Black Gold,” “Unmanned Police Drones” and “Can’t Stop the One World Order” topping out the CD sequence, you know what you’re getting here. James is a true blue believer in using songs to reach folks to make a difference in this world, and that’s an accomplishment of the first order, as important and vital in today’s charged atmosphere as ever in human history. His folk/blues approach of taking the topics to the people wins audiences everywhere.
