ANIMALS | Awareness for homeless pets
This Thursday, bring your leashed pet(s) to Southwind Park and join the Animal Protective League, along with animal welfare organizations around the world, for a Remember Me Thursday pet walk and candle lighting ceremony. Candles will be lit globally at the same time to honor the millions of pets that have lost their lives without the benefit of a loving, forever home, as well as to raise awareness for the millions of pets currently awaiting adoption. After the candle-lighting ceremony, pizza will be provided to humans while pets enjoy games, treats and demonstrations. The pet walk begins at 7 p.m. Owners are restricted to no more than two pets per person, and will be asked to sign waivers for each animal brought on premises. Registration for the walk is $10 per person and includes one candle for the lighting ceremony. A limited number of additional candles will be available for purchase at $5 per candle. For more information about the Remember Me Thursday: Candlelit Pet Walk, contact the APL at 544-7387, or visit their website at http://apl-shelter.org.
