LECTURES | Reflecting on racial climate

The Fall 2015 ECCE Speaker Series begins Tuesday at 6 p.m. with a panel discussion examining the historical, social and political lineage nurturing the racial climate that resulted in the June 17 Charleston shooting and the rise of racially charged aggression on college campuses and in the workplace. The panel features four experts and scholars of African-American history: Chad Williams, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of African and AfroAmerican Studies at Brandeis University; Sundiata Keita Cha-Jua, Associate Professor in the Department of History at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign; Ashley Howard, Assistant Professor in the History Department of Loyola University New Orleans; and Ty Dooley, Assistant Professor of Public Administration at the University of Illinois Springfield.
