SHOW BUSINESS

Remember Timmy Lynch? He’s the little boy from Springfi eld whose dream came true two years ago when country superstar Brad Paisley tossed his hat to the tyke during a concert at Prairie Capital Convention Center (Hat Trick, Nov. 27, 2013). Timmy was also allowed on stage to give fl owers to Carrie Underwood at his fi rst-ever concert in 2013 – the tickets were a gift for his seventh birthday. Now nine years old, Timmy is up to his usual tricks and is scheduled to meet Hank Williams Jr. at tomorrow’s concert at the Illinois State Fair, according to his mother, Andrea Lynch, who emailed a video of Timmy singing “Tear In My Beer” to Williams this summer. Timmy had sung the Williams hit as a tribute to his late grandfather, who had always loved the song, during a karaoke session at the Burger Bar. About a week later, someone from Williams’ camp got in touch. “He said ‘Do you have tickets to the show yet?’” Lynch recalls. Not yet. “He said, ‘Don’t worry about it – I’ll put you on the guest list,’” Lynch said. Timmy has gotten a new cowboy hat and camoufl age T-shirt for the occasion, his mother says. “Timmy is now convinced that he will be on stage that night with Hank,” Lynch says. “Timmy is a huge country music fan and has decided that is what he wants to be when he grows up.” Does he have the chops? You be the judge. Here’s the video of Timmy belting out “Tear In My Beer”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYFs b1ZBonw&feature=youtu.be
