Children’s Corner | Icy Illinois

This Saturday, Jan. 10, join the Illinois State Museum for another fun “Super Saturday” themed event. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., children ages 3-8 and their families will enjoy learning about the animals that inhabited Illinois during the Ice Age as well as why they ultimately disappeared. Attendees will have the opportunity to view Ice Age fossils and learn all about the Woolly Mammoths, Mastodons, Giant Short-faced Bears, Sabertooth Cats and other creatures that roamed Illinois during the period marked by snow, ice and glaciers. Each activity takes 30-45 minutes to complete. No registration is required and Super Saturday events are always free and open to the public. For more information about this and other Super Saturday events, contact the museum at 782-7386.
