SCIENCE | Libation creations

Illinois State Museum joins downtown First Fridays with an event for science, art, history, music and beer lovers. Art + Science Craft Beer is set from 5-8 p.m. Find curators and scientists who will discuss and answer your questions in the Art + Science of Drink Changes exhibition that includes vintage beer bottles (some from Springfield’s old Reisch Brewery), holly and hops collection, ornate beer mugs and artworks and Mississippian-style pottery from Cahokia Mounds from which the “black drink” was consumed. Join local brewers Rolling Meadows Brewery and learn about their operation and the craft of brewing beer. There are also unique artisan beer mugs by Illinois Artisan Bruce Kitts in the museum store. Food and drink, including beer and specialty beer cocktails, are available for purchase. Dew Chili Truck will be parked at the front steps of the museum. Music starts at 6:30 with local folk-blues musician Josie Lowder.
