ORPHAN OUTREACH A house renovation in Springfi eld will soon benefi t orphans in Haiti, thanks to the efforts of volunteers in Springfi eld’s Enos Park neighborhood. The Enos Park Neighborhood Improvement Association bought the house at 1149 N. Seventh St. and has practically gutted the building, installing a new roof, plumbing and HVAC system. Once the house renovation is complete, it will be sold to a family, and all of the proceeds will be donated to In His Hands Orphans Outreach in Rochester. The nonprofi t group teaches others about adopting Haitian orphans, while also supporting orphanages in China and Africa with beds, clothes, food and more. Volunteer labor and donations are coming from Rochester Christian Church, Thumbs Up Designs, Sweeney Plumbing Heating and Air Conditioning, the Springfi eld Urban League, IBEW Local 193, and Signature Contracting LLP, but In His Hands project coordinator Stephanie Barton says more volunteers and donations are needed. “We are very blessed to be partners with EPNIA so that both organizations’ missions can be accomplished with neighborhood transformation that will help some of the 163 million orphans in this world,” said Michelle Delhaute McGowan of Rochester, president of In His Hands.
