In honor of Bach’s birthday (Bach was born March 31, 1685), four local talented musicians will perform a baroque concert at Blessed Sacrament Church on the evening of Friday, March 21. Oboist Krista Steller is a member of the Sangamon Woodwind Consort and Jacksonville Symphony and teaches private oboe lessons. Jody Kienzler is a mezzo-soprano with a master’s in voice and vocal performance and is music director of Blessed Sacrament Church. Organist Dale Rogers is director of music and arts at Westminster. He holds a master’s degree as a member of the first graduating class of the Yale University Institute of Sacred Music and has performed with the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, Illinois Symphony Orchestra and the Columbus Pro Musica. Diane Dietz is a soprano who performs regularly in central Illinois and St. Louis. With a master’s degree in vocal performance and former faculty at several colleges, she now owns a private voice and piano studio in Springfield. Music selections will be from the Stabat Mater of Pergolesi, “Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor” by Bach and Geminiani’s “Oboe Sonata.” A portion of a freewill offering will go to Springfield Food Pantry.
