BAND SPOTLIGHT | Stoney LaRue

An integral member of the “Red Dirt” music movement that shot out of southeastern Oklahoma several years ago to set the rock-country-roots world on fire, Stoney LaRue is well known for his fiery and energetic live shows. From living with Cody Canada and Jason Boland in the infamous “Yellow House” in Stillwater, those late night sessions with the likes of Mike McClure and Brandon Jenkins begat the now renowned “Red Dirt” rootsy-rock sound. In 2013, after a three-year long recording process, he released, Velvet, a Nashville-produced studio album, without the Nashville production, only the superb studio cats all jamming in one room with Stoney’s well-seasoned voice hanging over the brilliantly made music. During his storied career, Stoney (that’s his given first name) has worked with Willie Nelson, Miranda Lambert, Dierks Bentley and other top names in the country music business. He continues with live performances at an incredible pace, including plenty of charity benefits all while being a full-blooded, travelin’ kind, inspiring, working musician, as he always has since first approaching music as a young man.
