BAND SPOTLIGHT | Reverend Raven and the Chain Smokin’ Altar Boys

With enough playing under their respective belts to make an old bluesman weep and moan, you would be hard pressed to find a more a traditional sounding, Chicago electric blues band at work today than this group of blues veterans. Praised as being “very, very good” by none other than the incredible and venerable Buddy Guy, with Reverend Raven on guitar and vocals, plus P.T. Pedersen SC on bass, Bobby Lee Sellers Jr. on drums and vocals, Danny Moore on piano and organ, and Big Al Groth on the saxophone as those wicked Chain Smokin’ Altar Boys, they really are that good. They’ve played the top blues clubs in the Midwest, performed at prestigious festivals, won several WAMIs (the Wisconsin Area Music Industry awards), produced a bunch of original CDs and keep on keeping on with the good stuff. If you are a fan of B.B., Freddie and Albert King, Slim Harpo, Little Walter and Junior Wells, then you’ll be singing the praises of the right Reverend and his crew of holy bluesters.
