BAND SPOTLIGHT | Randy Charles and the Western Angels

This five-piece group are darn good purveyors of country, folk and bluegrass tunes, combining choice covers by the likes of Dwight Yoakam, Johnny Cash and Garth Brooks with a handy bunch of well-suited original music to create a complete package of a heavenly, classic Americana band. Fronted by Randal Charles Hall (Randy Charles) on vocals, harmonica, acoustic, electric and slide guitar, while ably accompanied by Ryan Pulver on the bass, Jill Benoit Pulver on vocals, ukulele, washboard and tambourine, Jay Vanselow on electric lead guitar and John Turner on the drums, the group comes full of experience on the stage. Randy and Ryan rocked in the Reel Channel Cats plus Cocked and Loaded, Jill worked with Sarah Schneider and as a solo act, Jay played with several cool bands and now hangs with The Seething Coast and Fast Orange, while John, the solid, elder statesman of the band, spent time with Joe Cooke in the 70s, then drummed for the Rockin’ Rebels, Jack Flash and Suzie and the Smokers.
