Editor’s note
There was a lot “growing on” Feb. 12 as the Enos Park Neighborhood Improvement Association inaugurated the community meeting room at the new County Market grocery with a program on plans for gardening and composting on the neighborhood’s vacant lots. The manager of the 32,000-square-foot 24-hour store at Second and Carpenter said the store wants to build relationships with its neighbors, and the meeting room is one example of how. He also said the store plans to feature locally grown vegetables in its produce section, which perked the ears of garden planners interested in future possibilities. The new grocery, which features a coffee shop with a drive-up window, opens March 7, with a “block party” on its parking lot planned for March 9. –Fletcher Farrar, editor and publisher
